August 28, 2007

Well since Mike and I are going to be going to Washington DC the end of September, I thought it would be fun to have a "blog" so anyone interested could follow along with us.

At this time we are getting ready, making reservations. Setting up our flights and place to stay. Still does not seem real yet.

We are looking forward to being tourists on the weekends when Mike is not working. And I hope to get in a little "local" sight seeing during the weeks, if I can get the courage to venture forth on my own.

Dear Denise: You will love D.C. Be sure to have the nerve to venture out on your own, as there is so much to see. One way to see alot, and not feel so alone, is to go on Grayline Tours. They will pick you up at your hotel and drop you back off there. You can make all day trips to Arlington, Mount Vernon, and then the city tours to orientate yourself. There tours include entrance fees. Also, Smithsonian is free and there is weeks worth of things to see there near the big mounuments. You'll never run out of things to see! Have fun! Also, they have great transportation system! Karen PS You can also take an Amtrack to Philadelphia and New York on the week-ends.
