This is the view out of our bedroom window.
The White House from the Front.
Well it is October 2 and we have been here in Washington DC for a night and a day. I started out the day having a huge breakfast, the motel we are staying at has dinner three nights a week and then a dessert night on Thursdays. Every morning they have a breakfast, if they are all like this mornings WOW just about anything a person could desire. The food so far has been tasty. Tonight is meat ball and spaghetti, ok ok ,enough about the food.
I then decided to go out and just start walking. I headed in the general direction of where the White House is, which I will mention now, that Mike and I actually took a walk last night and saw the White House. I found out this morning that it was the back of the White House and that is why I did not recognize it, it is not so impressive from the back. I also have to admit that I have always thought that what is the Capitol Building is the White House......so I am already learning a lot here. Anyway back to my first thought....I went that way to find out where I need to go on Thursday for my official tour of the White House, so now I know I can find it....I think...more on that later.
Well I just let my nose lead me after that, I walked up and took some pictures of the Washington Monument, and watched people. On my way over there we were all stopped at a crossing and motorcade came by, lots of police and big black suburbans.....I wonder if it was President Bush himself?? Will never know I guess. They also have a place all closed off with lots of police officers in another area, guess I could have asked, but I'm not brave enough yet.
So, I decided well I will just go take a quick look at the Halocaust museum....well you don't just take a quick look....three hours later, and I will probably go back with Mike.....I can only say Wow, and Whoa. The thing that impressed me most i think is the way the people looking are, almost total silence even from groups of kids. Whispers if anything. And of course I knew it would be quite touching and horrifying as well. I cannot believe anyone would say it did not happen, they have films of it and picture upon pictures of poor poor people, dead or starving. They have this area that hundreds of pictures of this whole village of people that were wiped out. If I understand right, it was from the archives of the village photographer. Like I said the reverance of the ones looking on is impressive. There were quite a few Jewish people there touring also, I don't know if it is like that always, I could tell, because they must be very Kosher ones have the hair thingies on the side, caps and the ladies are dressed very beautifully and their children as well.
I am exhausted and it took he an hour to walk back, because, yep you guessed it I got lost! I am learning this like I do the computer. I figure if all else fails I can get in a taxi and give them the motel address. The weather is perfect, warm and balmy. I hope Mike does not want to tour anywhere tonight, I don't think my feet will go another inch.....just down to dinner!! :-)

I am still trying to figure this out. The view out of our bedroom window is not the White house it is that other building picture I posted. Denise
What a privilige and an opportunity! Enjoy!
Denise,
Thanks for sharing all your adventures, lucky you. I've always been interested in the Holocaust. It amazes me the suffering we can inflict upon our fellow humans. Keep posting!!

I went to the holocaust and it is soo sad and sobering i was impressed to by the respect of all ages there.
The cemetery is worth a visit for sure, beautiful. no cars allowed only horse drawn carriages. A beautiful garden and museum way at the top of the hill.
